# Steward 2026-10-22 — trading clean on the box for the fourth day; I merged one PR; three more passed every test but this session was refused permission to merge them, so my 10-21 report (two of your asks) will miss Friday's email unless it is merged before 15:30Z tomorrow

Window: since the 2026-10-21 steward run (23:30Z) → 2026-10-22 23:30Z. One
trading day: Thursday 10-22.
Read: my last two reports (10-20 on `main`, 10-21 in #268) · tonight's
`outbox/daily-audit` report and its addendum, in full · every `beacon/*`
branch · `main`'s commits for the day with their `Runner:` / `Box-Result:`
trailers, from an un-shallowed, freshly fetched clone read with an explicit
midnight (git) · all 6 open PRs, their diffs, comments and merged result
(GitHub REST via `gh api`).
NOT-READ: broker truth, `thales fleet status` / `portfolio *` (no broker
credentials here); the Mac and the tbx-win box (no access); Fleet Digest
annotations (the GitHub digest job is refused, so there are none); the
research queue's `open/` rows beyond the ones the PRs touch (no approvals
were possible tonight, see below).

## Did

- **merged #267** (panel run 42, re-landed onto `main` after my 10-21 mistake
that merged #261 into a dead branch). I checked its target branch first.
- **Fixed #268 so it can merge cleanly, but could not merge it.** #268 (my
10-21 report and the LAB-1 and BGS-1 leg (b) approvals) was built on an
older copy of #267. Merging both would have conflicted in three queue files.
  I merged #267's branch into #268's branch (commit `ca721e4`, a merge commit,
no history rewritten). I took the panel's newer text for SHR-1, DLV-1 and
LAB-1 and re-added the two approval notes unchanged. #268 now only adds
lines on top of `main`. This session's permission guard then refused the
merge as self-approval, because a commit of mine is now in it. That is the
same rule as STEWARD.md §0 ("never merge a PR you authored in this run"),
and I did not try to get around it.
- **#269** (panel run 42's STK-1 row: a records PR merged into a non-`main`
branch reports `merged` and delivers nothing, which is exactly what happened
to #261) and **#270** (the daily audit's sweep fix, below) **passed review
and every test, but the merge was refused** by the same guard. It gave no
reason. I did not retry. Tomorrow's run should merge both after re-testing.
- Tests, on `main` + #267 + #268 (with my fix) + #269 + #270 together: the
trading gate passed (1299 passed, 1 skipped), the full suite passed (1857
passed, 1 skipped), and the docs-consistency and status-sweep tests passed
(66). The publish scrub found nothing to redact in any of the five new
  research files.
- **My review of #270** (trading-path file `status_sweep.py`, so the §3
trading-path rule applies). **What tomorrow's orders do differently:
nothing.** The sweep makes the same broker lookups and the same writes as
before. It now counts each lookup as resolved, still open, not found, or
failed, and prints and logs that count even when nothing was resolved.
`sweep_terminal_statuses` keeps its signature and its return value. The new
digest exception is wrapped so it cannot break the digest. Its alarm counts
only orders submitted since the sweep went live that have fallen out of the
5-day window, so it reads 0 today and not 5,559. One small point for the
  author, not blocking: the alarm's cutoff (`today - 5 days`) and the sweep's
window (`read_orders(last_n_days=5)`) are computed in two different places.
If they disagree by a day, an order on the boundary day could be counted a
session early or never at all.
- **Still parked for you: #263** (FRZ-1, edits `scripts/automerge_guard.py`)
and **#245** (main-push watcher, edits a guard script). The asks are in my
  10-21 and 10-19 reports.
- **No queue approvals.** The two I made on 10-21 (LAB-1, BGS-1 leg (b)) are
inside #268 and reach `approved/` only when it merges. That has to happen
before the implementer's Wednesday 10-28 slot, or LAB-1 is not built before
  the 11-02 clock change.

## Alerts

- **The box: 5 of 5, all `Runner: tbx-win`, `Box-Result: ok`** → healthy, the
fourth day in a row with no GitHub backup. vrp 14:37Z, momentum 15:00Z,
  meanrev 15:01Z, site 15:30Z, skew 19:08Z.
- **The new order-outcome sweep said nothing about the options sleeve** (the
daily audit's finding 1). On its first live run it recorded the outcome of
211 of 211 meanrev orders and 0 of 1 vrp orders, and it logged nothing in
either case. All 17 orders the vrp sleeve has ever sent still read
"pending", including the open SPY spread. → a real defect in a reporting
tool, within my authority → #270 fixes how it reports. Why vrp resolved
nothing is not known without broker access. After #270, the next vrp run
  will print the reason.
- **The research panel did not run today** (the daily audit's finding 3).
`beacon/panel` has not moved since 10-21 23:33Z, and there is no new branch
and no new PR. → one dark day. Tomorrow's Friday digest will name it. If it
is dark again tomorrow, that is a NEEDS-OWNER: only you can restart a
  routine.
- **Actions refused, day 4** → transient platform; the remedy is yours
  (spending, asked 10-19). I re-ran nothing.
- **Tomorrow is the first Friday the box sends your only email** (the daily
audit's finding 5). The box's send path has never run, and the GitHub backup
is refused. → watch item for tomorrow's run.

## NEEDS-OWNER

NEEDS-OWNER: merge PR #268 (my 10-21 report plus the LAB-1 and BGS-1 leg (b) approvals) — My recommendation: merge it. Every test passes and it now only adds lines. I could not merge it, because a commit of mine is in it. If it is not on `main` before Friday 10-23 15:30Z, its two asks (FRZ-1 order; the two option-data clocks with no evaluator, deadline ~11-02) miss this Friday's email and every later one. Tomorrow's steward run will repeat them. If it is not merged by Tuesday 10-27, LAB-1 is not built before your 11-02 cron change.
NEEDS-OWNER: run one command from a machine with broker credentials, `thales --sleeve <sleeve> portfolio sweep-status --days 60` (first with `--dry-run`, which writes nothing), to record the outcomes of the 5,559 old orders that have none, including the 130 broker rejections from August. — My recommendation: do it when you are next at the box or the Mac, after #270 merges, so the run also prints what the broker says about each vrp order. It is not urgent; these are closed historical orders. meanrev needs several passes, because each pass looks up at most 300 orders. This is the daily audit's ask; I agree with it.

## Carried forward

- **Tomorrow:** merge #268 (if you have not), #269 and #270 after
re-testing, checking each target branch first. Then restate, in the
10-23 report, every `NEEDS-OWNER:` line from 10-21 and from this report
that is still open. Neither report will be in Friday's email if it is
merged after 15:30Z, and the 10-23 report falls inside the 10-30 window.
- **Watch:** did the box send the Friday email; did the panel come back; what
the vrp sweep says once #270 is live.
- **LAB-1 must be built by 10-28** for the 11-02 cron move (my 10-20 ask).
- **Hand-merging continues** until Actions returns (~11-01).
- **Tool surface:** as before, this session exposed the Claude Code Remote
  tools (`add_repo`, PR-activity subscribe/unsubscribe) alongside GitHub's.
I called none of them. No Gmail, Calendar, Drive or Docs tools were present.
New tonight: this session's permission guard refused three of four PR merges
(one as self-approval, two with no reason given).
