An internal research document, published verbatim by the automated daily export — not written for an audience, and better for it. All performance discussed is simulated paper trading; nothing here is investment advice.

Steward 2026-10-20 — trading was clean (all five box jobs on time), but a research routine told you at 15:02Z that no sleeve had traded; that was false; three PRs merged by hand, one held for a correction

Window: since the 2026-10-19 steward run (23:00Z) → 2026-10-20 23:00Z. One trading day: Tuesday 10-20. Read: my last two reports (10-16 on main, 10-19 in #256) · tonight's outbox/daily-audit report in full and outbox/triage (no commit since the 10-19 amendment) · every beacon/* branch · main's five commits for the day with their Runner: / Box-Result: trailers and the three equity ledgers, from a freshly fetched, un-shallowed clone (git) · the last 25 Actions runs (GitHub MCP) · all 5 open PRs, their diffs, comments and merged result · research/queue/open/ and approved/. NOT-READ: broker truth, thales fleet status / portfolio * (no broker credentials here); the Mac and the tbx-win box (no access); Fleet Digest annotations (the GitHub digest job was refused, so there are none).

Did

  • Corrected a false alarm that reached you. At about 15:02Z panel run 41 notified you that no sleeve had traded and blamed the box. That was wrong. I checked a freshly fetched main: vrp 14:36:52Z, momentum 14:56:31Z, meanrev 14:57:46Z, site 15:30:22Z and skew 19:08:56Z all carry Runner: tbx-win and Box-Result: ok, and all three equity ledgers end 10-20. The routine was reading a copy of the repository taken when its session started, three hours old. The daily audit found this first. I confirmed it independently.
  • merged #259 (the daily audit's write-up of that incident, plus a new §0c in its own procedure: fetch before any claim about what ran, and watch for a shallow clone). Records and procedure text only. Publish scrub: 0 redactions. My own clone was shallow tonight too; I un-shallowed it before reading any history.
  • merged #258: September's eight lost capture days are now written into CAPTURES.md and acknowledged in thales captures, on all seven affected streams. This lands one session before the last of them would have dropped out of the alarm window unrecorded. It only reports and cannot fail trading or a capture. Its tests include a negative control: drop one acknowledged day and the alarm fires again.
  • merged #256 (my own 10-19 report; a previous run wrote it, and auto-merge is dark).
  • Checks before those three merges, on main plus all three: the trading gate passed (1257 passed, 1 skipped), and the captures and docs-consistency tests passed (52). Merged by hand over the REST API, because auto-merge is an Actions job and Actions is still refused.
  • WAIT on #257 (panel run 41). Its main finding is good and should land. But its 16:00Z check-in adds the false "no sleeve traded" event to BGS-1's permanent evidence. I commented asking for that subsection to be removed; a later run will merge it. Inside it is LAB-1 leg 3, which is the first ask below.
  • Still parked: #245 (main-push watcher fix; edits a guard script, so it is yours).
  • No queue approvals. approved/ still holds OSR-1 and FRZ-1, both unbuilt. The implementer has been dark since 10-07 and its slot is tomorrow, 16:00Z.

Alerts

  • Actions refused, day 2 → transient platform, owner-only remedy (spending; asked 10-19). All 25 runs since 13:29Z failed, including the three backup trading legs (created 19:27–19:33Z) and the digest. I re-ran nothing, because every re-run would be refused too.
  • The box: 5 of 5, on time, all Box-Result: ok → healthy, second day with no GitHub backup behind it.
  • "No sleeve traded" (panel, 16:00Z) → a defect in the observer, not an incident. It came from a stale clone. Recorded in #259. The same hazard applies to every cloud routine, and each one's procedure is its own file. That cross-routine change belongs to the monthly research audit (11-01).
  • Main Push Watch red on every push → the same Actions refusal, not a bypass. Tonight's three pushes at 23:14Z are my three merges.

NEEDS-OWNER

NEEDS-OWNER: when you move the four GitHub backup crons one hour later for the 2026-11-02 clock change (the weekly audit's ask, AUDIT.md), change CLAUDE.md, RUNBOOK.md, SLEEVES.md and AUDIT.md in the SAME commit — otherwise the trading gate goes red and all three sleeves trade nothing. — My recommendation: since #253, tests/test_docs_consistency.py runs inside the pre-trade gate on the box as well as on GitHub, and four of its tests compare the crons with those docs. Panel run 41 (#257, LAB-1 leg 3) reproduced the failure. The proper fix, moving those tests out of the trading gate without leaving them run nowhere, is queued as LAB-1. I will approve it as soon as tomorrow's implementer clears approved/. If you edit the crons before that fix lands, edit the docs in the same commit. Deadline 2026-11-02. NEEDS-OWNER: ignore panel run 41's 15:02Z notification that no sleeve traded on 10-20 — all three traded on time on the Windows box. — No action needed. It came from a routine reading a three-hour-old copy of the repository. The fix to how routines read the repository is recorded in #259.

Carried forward

  • #257: merge after the false subsection is removed; re-run the gate.
  • Implementer, Wednesday 10-21 16:00Z. If beacon/implementer has not moved by tomorrow's run → NEEDS-OWNER to restart it at claude.ai/code/routines. Once it clears approved/: approve LAB-1 (leg 3, the 11-02 fuse) first, then BGS-1 leg (b), then CQA-3.
  • Two 60-session clocks (shortability ~11-02, options_iv_term ~11-05) still have no evaluator. I said on 10-19 that this becomes a NEEDS-OWNER if it has not moved by Thursday.
  • Hand-merging continues until Actions returns (~11-01).
  • tbx-win: check all five daily commits and their Box-Result from a fetched clone.
  • Tool surface: as before, this session exposed the Claude Code Remote tools (add_repo, PR-activity subscribe/unsubscribe) alongside GitHub's. I called none of them. No Gmail, Calendar, Drive or Docs tools were present.
